His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama: Peace Through Compassion

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

In the remotest parts of Tibet, the American Himalayan Foundation has been working quietly as a lifeline for people who have no one else.

Over a dozen years AHF has built 33 schools where Tibetans learn in their own language, 24 bridges over dangerous rivers, and eight clean water systems for villages. They shelter elders whose poverty is shocking, support orphans, and build and maintain hospitals and clinics that care for thousands each year.

This year, AHF will help build two more schools with dorms and kitchens because nomad children live so widely scattered, a bridge that will free 3,000 villagers, and a clean water system so that 2,000 Tibetans wont have to spend hours gathering contaminated water from a river far away. Helping Tibetans has never been more urgent.

Are we Reincarnated? [music involving Chordal Mutation]

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Firstly, this is a composition i wrote in 1993 involving chordal mutation. In this piece is a three note chord which one by one each of the notes descends by a half step until i arrived to the next chord and the next until i arrive near open position and then go into something a bit different. Back in my college days i stumbled upon it and basically with this work i did it with a dozen chords as opposed to one or two. I originally called the piece “World from Space” and thought this music might do well with some pics from space.

Secondly i came up with the idea of typing up some thoughts i have gathered in my past years reading on the subject of reincarnation. I have read dozens of books on the subject of reincarnation and past-life regression and i personally feel as many of the authors do that the past life regression cases can’t be explained any other way. These are researhers, scientists, scholars, former atheists like Michael Newton, who in their fields tend to feel reincarnation important to consider. As for me i personally have my very own personal story of a past life recollection that has always been with me since a young child. The information in my recollection could not have been obtained by a 4 yr old boy who did not even learn about that specific historical event until highshool years.
I am not claiming to have answers and want people to be comfortable in their beliefs no matter what they are as long as we love one another and live in peace. My mind is open and not shut, and my eyes are wide open too. I am still learning and i won’t be held hostage by any belief system. I don’t want to be blissfully ignorant with a “no compromise” attitude. I will admit i once was trying to convert the world and for a long time, until i started listening, reading, and thinking. Now i find myself more free than i ever have been. The hardest thing about life is living in a world in which we as humans come to a state of people who will not compromise and who make other peoples lives difficult.
I don’t care what you are. If you are a Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Atheist etc if you feel comfortable in your belief system and you benefit from it positively then this is great. I am happy for you. But I think there can be a problem when we try to coerce others to gravitate toward our belief system. I am very guilty of doing that and for a long time. I have come a long way to learn the lesson that i must love unconditionally and i still have a long way to go. If i was perfect i would not be here on the earth “school” learning to evolve and grow spiritually toward a greater understanding that we are all the same and equal and brothers and sisters. There is no need to convert anyone but to love them. But don’t love them thinking that they will eventually come to think like you if you are kind to them long enough.
What a big subject. I could go on and on.

One day as i was sitting behind my computer i typed in “reincarnation” and many videos came up and i watched with great interest the videos by Michael Newton and Brian Weiss and all the young children past life memories. The more i researched and the more i bought books, the more i came to realize there could be something to this that the mainstream church does not want us to know about. I can’t tell you how liberating it is when one can finally dispose of their fears one by one that religion seems to infect us with from an early age. I believe In the end we will all be alright. If we screw up we only hurt ourselves and may have to come back in a next life and feel the same pain and hurt we inflicted onto another. Now that would seem to be fair and something a Loving God would allow us to go through as opposed to opening a trap door and thrusting us into fiery flames. Silly isn’t it?

Well maybe reincarnation and karma is the way it works, i don’t know for sure and no one does and no book can claim to have the “exact truth.” All we can dois carefully weigh the evidence we look into but to be on the safe side is to love one another.

One other thing i noticed the correlation between the idea of reincarnating in many lives and chordal mutation. Perhaps our souls grow and evolve toward a specific “light” or “goal” such as love. Each note in Chrodal Mutation gradually moves into or transforms into a different chord etc.
Some things to think about !

Peace and LOVE

SLEEPY OLD TOWN
The lights are going out
On this sleepy old town
And all the good people are safely in bed
Resting their heads
On their eiderdown pillows

Here in this sleepy old town
Sleepy old town

The houses in the street
Lean back into the yards
From years of spring cleaning
And working so hard
Keeping the doors open wide
On their hinges

Here in this sleepy old town
Sleepy old town

Nobody’s awake after quarter to twelve
Everyone’s sleeping wonderfully well

The fires are burning low
Though snow is on the ground
The children are dreaming
Up in their rooms
Knowing tomorrow
There’ll be ice on the windows

Here in this sleepy old town
Sleepy old town

The lights are going out
On this sleepy old town
And all the good people are safely in bed
Resting their heads
On their eiderdown pillows

Here in this sleepy old town
