Planned Parenthood Reports Zero Adoption Referrals for the fiscal year 2005-2006. During the 2005 to 2006 fiscal year, the nonprofit Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s largest abortion provider, performed a record 264,943 abortions, attained a high profit of $55.8 million and received record taxpayer funding of $305.3 million. Among these taxpayers were millions and millions of Americans who oppose abortion. During this time period, Planned Parenthood did not refer a single pregnant woman to adoption services. In fact, the word, “adoption”, did not even appear in the Planned Parenthood’s annual report. In the previous year, Planned Parenthood had reported 1,414 Adoption referrals, which amounts to one adoption for every 180 abortions. The fact that the organization chose not to release a number for adoptions in the 2005 to 2006 fiscal year means that one can only assume the number was so low that Planned Parenthood did not want to embarrass itself by revealing it. In fiscal year 2004, Planned Parenthood had reported that it referred nearly 1,500 clients to Adoption Agencies. So why the huge change when compared to zero referrals for 2005? It hurts Planned Parenthood’s profit margin to refer women for adoption services, but would it really be so awful of them to encourage women to at least consider adoption as an option for abortion. Planned Parenthood is not about saving babies or helping women. It is time for the people of the United States to insist that their members of Congress and their state legislators stop funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer’s earnings.
