LGBT parenting is when lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people are parents to one or more children. This can include same-sex couples where one or both are LGBT, raise children together, either through adoption, fostering, surrogacy, donor-insemination, or bringing children into the partnership from a previous relationship. This can also include single people who are Parenting and to a lesser extent sometimes refers to issues where the children are LGBT.
In the United States a third of lesbian couples, and nearly a quarter of gay couples, fulfill this role, raising over a quarter of a million children. All major agencies concerned with child-welfare agree that evidence shows that in terms of childrens’ outcomes, lesbian and gay parents are as suitable as parents who are in heterosexual marriages.
Many LGBT people are parents through various means including current or former relationships, Adoption, donor insemination, and surrogacy; LGBT people are eligible to act as foster carers in some countries (such as the UK). In the 2000 U.S. Census, 33 percent of female same-sex couple households and 22 percent of male same-sex couple households reported at least one child under eighteen living in their home. [1] A lesbian or gay man may have children within a mixed-orientation marriage either because of a fear of discrimination, to manage Ego-dystonic sexual orientation, affection or love, [2] desire for family, [3] or spiritual reasons. [4][5] [6] [7] [8] Some children do not know they have an LGB parent; coming out issues vary and some parents may never come out to their children. [9] [10]
LGBT parenting in general, adoption by LGBT couples in particular, are issues of ongoing political controversy in many Western countries, often seen as part of culture wars between conservatives and social liberals. In January 2008, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that same-sex couples have the right to adopt a child.[11][12] In the U.S., LGB people can legally adopt in all states except for Florida.[13] Because of these issues parents often choose to stay closeted in various ways.

A three-kilo-baby is literally a bundle of joy for Israeli gay couple Omer and Yonatan Gher. The couple had a baby through invitro fertilisation in a Mumbai-based clinic.
The baby has raised a fresh lease of hope for the Israeli couple and they can hardly hold back their sense of pride.
The couple’s courageous step comes at a time when India is debating the validity of Section 377 and several gay rights activists have been lobbying to scrap this outdated legislation.
Fertility Specialist Dr Gautam Allahabadia says, “The sequel to Dostana will probably start with the children of such families.”
