Open Adoption

June 8, 2010

How much is an open adoption on the couple wanting to adopt?

How much is an open Adoption on the couple who is wanting to adopt the baby?

Adoptions can go anywhere from just lawyers cost/paper work up to about 40K. In many ways, the Adoption Agencies have become an industry, which is sad. If you’re considering adoption, think about people you know that may not be able to have children/want children, through your church etc. While an agency may promise an Open Adoption, there is no way to enforce that the other party will comply.

I hope this helps you:)

  1. Private adoption without an agency "facilitating it" is the cost of the adoption lawyer plus the cost of the homestudy plus court filing fees plus travel expenses since you are in different states plus notification to the biological father.

  2. It depends on the state and if it’s a private adoption or if you go through an agency, I would assume.

  3. Costs do vary but I think on average it costs the adoptee a complete sense of self and shatters the ability to love unconditionally, while depleting the stores of trust. It costs feeling acceptance, and having one’s natural abilities and traits modeled.

For the mother of adoption loss it can cost her future fertility, confidence, self-esteem. Sometimes it costs her severe depression and lack of trust in others. There is a toll of resentment her family may bear for not helping her keep her baby.

For the adoptive parents, usually it’s just a bunch of money. Oh and some paperwork.
