Christian Adoption

March 7, 2010

why would a Christian adoption agency buy children in a foreign country and sell them? seems a bit sinful to m?

do you think god will forgive the CWO for buying and selling children like cattle?
michael the trial is on the news just turn on your own tv
no this is on top of the haiti incident these children were from Africa and ethiopia
they paid the parents in the original country for the children yes, then brought them to the USA and sold them to families who wanted to adopt kids. so they made money for kids who weren’t really orphaned.

Sinful doesn’t really come into it. The main dynamic in American culture, is basic Economics. See a gap in the Market, buy cheap, from abroad, and sell at a profit, to the people suffering from the effects of not being able to source what they want. It’s always been the same, and the uncomfortable truth, is that though you may think you are an ethical Nation, with a moral code, that the rest of the World can only aspire to, in many respects, you’re not. With any other (than children) marketable product, such behaviour would be commended, rewarded even. And really, although everyone’s initial reaction would be to deny this, Human life, always has been a commodity, to be bought, sold, hired, leased, or paid off, by anyone with the power, and the money to do so.

But to answer, I expect the people involved have already justified their actions, with reasoning such as "They would have had a better life in America" or "We weren’t acting out of greed, we were only thinking of the children" So they can probably sleep at night. As to whether their God will forgive them, I neither know, nor do I care.

  1. I cover this in my Ten Commandments Version 2.0:

  5. All adoption agencies do that. Sell children to couples who can offer a better life (hardly ever true).

  10. Please provide a link. If they did so, they are wrong, they also are violating christian teachings. If true, its sad, and possibly criminal, but is no way indicative of christian behavior as a whole. To ascribe to all the attributes of but a few, would be irrational.

  11. The Christians have been kidnapping indigenous peoples children for centuries. The ongoing court case against the United Churches of Canada to try and force them to disclose where they buried the bodies of over 50′000 native Canadian children under their care, is a case in point.

If they are all innocent why wont they disclose where they buried the bodies. The fact that they are still refusing to say, is actually very damning. ie they murdered them or sold them in to the slave trade.

  12. If your’e talking about the people who got into trouble in Haiti, you are talking about people who are confused and not particularly sane. They were motivated by thier own desires and their actions do not reflect the actions of God. They were wrong to do what they did.

Christians are humans and as humans they often do the wrong thing or make mistakes. Just like any other humans. When an athiest does something that is wrong does it mean all atheist do such things too?
