Background search from adoption?

I am 13 years old and adopted. How can I figure out what my background is? My parents don’t know….
OMG you guys are dumb! I don’t need a freaking birth certificate! She could be chinese but still be born in Canada! Place of birth has nothing to do with it!

You can try the state…it is a start. If your birth parents want to be found they may be on Adoption.com.

Are you careful about the advice you receive in the Adoption category?

I am a mother to two babies adopted at birth. I am aware of many of the laws within our state concerning adoption and I am very mindful of my adoption language as well as promoting a positive view on adoption for those who want to know more about the process or who are thinking of adopting.

The support given to everyone who posts a question in this catergory is tremendous. It’s great to see others offering their advice and words of well wishes to those on all sides of the adoption triad.

However, I’ve noticed that sometimes the advice given is based on opinion or misinformation rather than fact. So, please keep in mind that not everything you read here is considered to be lawful or factual.

Use this forum as a resource, but make sure you check out your own state’s laws as well during your research.

Adoption is wonderful and I hope that everyone considering adoption, placing a child for adoption, or searching for birthparents to be well informed.

I think that anyone, regardless of the category that they are posting a question in, should take all that they read here with a pinch of salt. Yes, most of it is personal opinion and therefore should never be taken as the gospel truth . . . I am wondering how many people believe everything they read here. . . . some of the questions do amaze me but I think that if people have half a brain, they would get some general advice here but back it up properly with more specialised and verified advice . . . . surely?!

Thanks for your post – and concern!

Best wishes.

I’m trying to search for my sister who was put up for adoption years ago. Any help?

My name is Kacy. My sister was adopted years ago. Shes now 20 & I’m trying to find her. If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried Myspace of Facebook? I found my 4 siblings there and were were all adopted. It is the most amazing thing. I had their names and dates of birth. Good Luck to you! Do not loose hope, it will happen when it is meant to. I was literally lying in bed trying to fall asleep when the thought came to me, try it now. And I did. I had been looking for years on Myspace and literally 3 weeks after my brother put his profile up, I found him.

and if it could be under 6 pound it would be awesome
can you please contact me if you can help..
wow you guys are awsome…
thank you for the info..

Never buy from a petstore, backyard breeder, puppy mill or newspaper, Please consider adopting from a shelter or pound and DON’T knock the adults. The only way you are guaranteed to get a dog 6pound MAX is to buy an ADULT. There is NO accurate prediction for puppy adult SIZE!

Note; TEACUPS are NOT healthy dogs, they are runt, breed with runts to get there small size and most likely INBRED too. they have exagerate HEALTH problem due to there SMALL size!

Small dogs and young children DON’T mix. Never have a small dog with children under 8yrs old.

Here are some small breed dogs
Affenpinscher
Weight: 7-9 lbs
Height: 9-11.5 inches
Temperament: Affenpinschers are highly inquisitive and quick-witted. They are mischievous and playful, affectionate and amusing. They get along well with other pets they have been raised with. They are not recommended for young children as this breed has a tendency to guard and protect their food and toys. They will become aggressive and fearless toward anything or anyone they perceive as a threat. They love to entertain and expect to be entertained. The Affenpinscher enjoys being with their family.

American Hairless Terrier
Weight: Male: 5-16; Female: 5-16 lbs
Height: Male: 7-16; Female: 7-16 inches
Temperament: Affectionate, playful, and loving, the American Hairless Terrier is also fearless and fiesty. They do best with older, considerate children or children they have been with since puppyhood. They do well with dogs, cats, and other household pets. The American Hairless Terrier breed is typically very social and friendly with strangers but can also be territorial. They make good watchdogs as they will bark to alert their family to visitors and out of the ordinary sounds.

Australian Terrier
Weight: 12-14 lbs
Height: 10-11 inches
Temperament: This breed displays the bravery and courage of much larger dogs. The Australian Terrier is extremely affectionate with their family, loyal, and highly intelligent. They are exceedingly amusing, spirited, and curious. This breed does best in a home with older considerate children. They get along with other dogs and household pets, but do have a propensity for chasing the family cat as well as small outdoor animals such as squirrel and rabbit. They thrive on human interaction and do not do well if left alone for extended periods of time. The Australian Terrier has acute hearing as well as keen eyesight and makes an excellent watchdog. They are wary of strangers but are not aggressive unless provoked

Bichon Frise
Weight: 7-12 lbs
Height: 9.5-11.5 inches
Temperament: The Bichon Frise has an extremely appealing nature. They are highly social and are at their absolute best as full members of a family. They get along very well with other dogs and pets, and are excellent with children. They make good watchdogs and will bark to alert their family to visitors or danger. This breed is inquisitive and energetic, dignified and charming.

The Bolognese form very close bonds with thier family and suffer from separation anxiety if ignored or left alone for extended periods of time. If separation anxiety occurs this breed will become destructive and bark incessantly. They are easily intimidated and are shy and suspicious toward strangers without proper socialization. This Bolognese breed makes a good watchdog due to keen eyesight and acute hearing.

Temperament: Friendly and playful, the Border Terrier is very affectionate and thrives on human interaction and attention. This breed is more placid than is typical of the other terrier breeds. They do best in a home with older considerate children. They will generally get along with other dogs but are not recommended for homes with cats or other small household pets. The Border Terrier does not do well if left alone for extended periods of time and will become destructive and bark excessively if bored or lonely. For this reason a two-career family is not an ideal situation for them. They are wary of strangers but are generally not aggressive. This breed is not recommended for the novice, apathetic or sedentary dog owner.

Boston Terrier
Weight: 10-25 lbs
Height: 15-17 inches
Temperament: Highly intelligent, alert, and enthusiastic, the Boston Terrier is affectionate and loyal. This breed is quite animated and has a lovely sense of humor. They thrive on human interaction and on being an integral part of the family. They do best in a home with children over the age of eight years and are exceedingly good with the elderly. They will generally get along with non-canine pets, although males may fight with other dogs. The Boston Terrier has a very sensitive nature and will be affected either positively or negatively by tone of voice or the home atmosphere and environment.

Brussell Griffon
Weight: 8-10 lbs
Height: 7-8 inches
Temperament: Cheerful, friendly, and sometimes moody, this breed can be fairly picky. As with many smaller breeds, the Brussels Griffon can be difficult to housebreak but with consistency, will do just fine. Being that this is a willful and high-strung breed, a gentle but firm handler would work best with training.

Temperament: This breed is spirited and restless, always seeking an adventure. They are friendly and affectionate, bold and fearless. The Cairn Terrier loves to play and adores stimulation. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Weight: 10-18 lbs
Height: 11-13 inches
Temperament: The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is best suited for a pampered indoor life. They display the temperament of an extrovert. They can be quite spirited and vocal. The Cavalier prefers to be with their family or other dogs. Although this breed is gentle and affectionate, they do not have patience for unruly children.

Cesky Terrier
Weight: Male: 18; Female: 15.5 lbs
Height: Male: 11.8, Female: 11 inches
Temperament: Selectively bred to be less aggressive than most Terriers, the Cesky Terrier is a devoted and loyal companion. They do well with people of all ages and other dogs. The Cesky Terrier breed does not do well if left alone for extended periods of time and will become destructive if lonely or bored. They are extremely well-mannered and eager to please. They are loving, affectionate, pleasant, and calm. This breed has a very protective streak which makes them a good guard dog. The Cesky Terrier makes a wonderful companion.

How do I search for a child that was put up for adoption 19 yrs ago?

I answered a question similar for someone else except theirs was about a birthparent. I just copied it, but it has some helpful information. Just substitute the word adoptee for birthparent.

As someone adopted, I have to tell you it will be hard if it was a closed adoption. This means all my information from my birth until my parents got me is pretty much kept secret. I know it sounds bad, but that’s because it is. The hospital I was born at told me they have no record of me being born. This is mainly because I was born with a different name, and I don’t know what name my birthmother may have given me or what her last name was. If they search under the name I have now, it won’t be found. I have very little information on my birthparents. It makes me angry and sad at the same time that they took this crucial information away from me. The first thing you probably want to do is find out if they have a state adoption registry where you live and put his name on it. The next thing is to go to the adoption agency and apply to get all non-identifying information they can give you on the birthfamily. Mine was okay, but not compared to others. It will tel you basically height, ages, weight, talents, siblings or the birthparents and a little more if they have it. They will even tell you if the family has been looking for him. If it’s been a month and you have no match on the registry and the non-identifying info is not good, I’d look into getting a seach angel. Search angels are people that help those involved in adoption find the family member. They are free of charge. Many of them are involved in adoption themselves and some are not. I am still searching for any bit of information to lead me to anyone in my past. Well, I hope all of this helps. I wish you luck. I know how tough it can be. I just pray that I can have my own family like lots of kids one day to make up for the hereditary part of me that I lost through Adoption. Very few states allow adopted children their records once they turn 18. People are still fighting to give the rest of us that right. I continue to pray for it. I wish your fiancee all the best. Tell him not to give up. It may seem difficult at times but not impossible.

PS
If it was a closed adoption, do not expect to get any names.

How do I begin my search for a child I was forced to give up for adoption,I was very young at the time .?

My parents were very controling, if any one has any search help for me please respond. Thankyou

First thing you should do is go to courts or adoption agency and get what ever records you can, normally the courts will have documents that you should be able to get. i know how you feel my husband is going through the same thing right now on wanting to find hi daughter, he found documents of Adoption on his daughter in a common pleas court juvenile division.
I wish you luck at finding your lil one and hope this helps you.

where would i find information on how to search my own adoption. i have questions about it’s legality?

born bastrop in texas. u.s.a supposed adoption in lampasas ,texas u.s.a
born in bastrop texas,u.s.a supposed adoption in lampasas, texas. u.s.a

Could you be a little more specific? Like where where you born? Was your Adoption through a private attorney or an agency?
I think many adoptions fall into the "grey area" as far as legality goes. Many agencies/brokers/attorneys skirt the law, ie, refusing to inform the father, coercive tactics, even going so far to using heavy sedation during and after childbirth to get a mother to sign relinquishment papers. Sad, but true…and it STILL exists today.

Adoption order and the desire to search….?

Lillie’s question on age at adoption and desire to search

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtseKfqW9nqMEIRSgd9cdetq.Bd.;_ylv=3?qid=20080305114047AABxnNr

reminded me of something I’ve been curious about – Adoption order and desire to search.

I’ve always wanted to search, while my adopted sister who came to our home four years later used to always state she never wanted to search.

My talking about searching during my teen years made my adoptive mother very uncomfortable. I wondered if perhaps my younger adoptive sister saw how uncomfortable it made her, and that shaped her opinions, as not to hurt our mother’s feelings. One of her reasons she gave me once as to why she didn’t want to search was not to hurt mom.

So any answers will have two parts:

a.) Have you searched/do you want to search?
b.) What was your place in the adoption order, i.e, only child, eldest, youngest, middle?

Thanks.

I was the youngest of 3 – and the only adopted – with a 13/14 yr age gap between them and me. (sometimes I felt like an only child – as my sibs moved out of home early-ish)
I always wanted to search – but put it off for many years because my a-mum got upset when I talked about wanting to know about my history etc.
Started the search at 26 – when pregnant with my first – and my a-mum had since passed away 8 yrs earlier. (still felt huge amounts of guilt for my a-mum’s feelings)
Seriously searched at 35 – finding bio family – complete with married parents and 3 full sibs – all younger than me!!
(yeah – that is weird to have all these younger sibs when I was always the baby!!!)

Interesting question. Thanks.
