Does adoption agencies tell the natural mother how society feels about natural mothers?

Or do agencies only feed the natural mother how she is selfless and doing a great thing?

Do agencies counsel about how a relinquishing mother will feel?

What does an agency counsel these women on?

What goes through a natural mothers head? Pity for the adoptive parents? Scared of responsibility? Pressure?

Why would anybody want to pressure a woman to relinquish?

Agencies only feed the natural mother how she is selfless and doing a great thing. Yup. They also tell her she will "forget" about her child, and that she is doing the best thing for her baby.
http://www.exiledmothers.com/Adoption_facts/adoption_coercion.html

Agencies would NEVER tell a first Mom what she and her child will go through. If they did, NO woman would EVER relinquish a child again.

An agency who gives "counsel" to a first Mom is like a child sex offender having a sleep over for boy scouts. It’s predatory, and immoral, plain and simple.

Confusion goes through a Mother’s head. When there is coercion going on such as pre-birth matching or "counseling" from the agency, it makes her even more confused, and more pressured to do what OTHERS think is the best for her.

Why would anybody want to pressure a woman to relinquish? Umm, cash. Plain and simple. Adoption is a billion dollar a year industry. Newborns= mass amounts of money.

***ETA*** for Mandy.
You wrote: "I gave the gift of a child to a wonderful, loving couple who were unable to conceive a child of their own. I knew that when my child was born, I would not be able to give him the life he deserved. I also knew that my decision held very difficult consequences that I would have to work through on my own. It was not the responsibility of the adoption agency to counsel me"
Wow. As an adoptee, I believe I deserved my Mother. I didn’t want "things", I wanted HER. Yes, there are "consequences" you would have to work out through your own, but what about your child? How disrespectful.

"Adoption is different now than it was twenty years ago. Perspective adoptive families are subject to much more now than years ago". Are you KIDDING me??? Babies go to the highest bidder. Period.

"I felt no pity for anyone." It looks to me like you did. Saying things like, "I gave the gift of a child to a wonderful, loving couple who were unable to conceive a child of their own." EXCUSE ME??? Adoptees are NOT gifts. We are human beings who are hurt from the premature disruption of the mother- child bond. "Gift" is a perfect example of an agency line, one they use to coerce.

"And the decision to place my baby in the hands of a more able family was all my own. Adoption can be a wonderful thing and any woman who is strong enough to give their child a chance at a better life should be commended."

"More able family???" Another example of buying into the agency lies. If you were not a drug user, and you did not abuse your son, NO one is more "able" or "deserving" to raise him than you.

My heart breaks when I read stuff like this. You really have NO clue, do you? Adoption does NOT always give a child a better life, only a different one.

Please get some help. Your son WILL want to know you some day, and not just through letters and pictures sent through his adoptive parents. You’ll hurt him if you call him a gift.

Does anyone know of adoption agencies in other countries that take american babies?

I live in America and I want to give my baby up for Adoption, but I don’t want it to grow up in America. So far all I can find is information on Americans adopting babies from other countries when I want to do the opposite.

Yes, the U.S. does export babies. Read the article for more information about how a 57 year-old woman adopted an infant from the U.S.

If you’re rich enough, you can buy anything you want, including babies.

Do you think that adoption agencies should be regulated, non-profit with salary caps for employees? Would it?

Do you think that if all Adoption Agencies were non-profit, with salary caps set at a reasonable rate (I know a woman who operates a non-profit thrift store for her "ministry" and salary is 105,000/year + benefits) with the rate being around what a state employee makes, that it would help Adoption overall making it affordable for middle class, and giving 1st moms less pressure, and ending stealing babies from all over?

Also the incentive for placing a baby should be removed.

Even if the worker makes $30K, but if she places another baby it would bump her up to 31K, then thats where the problem is.

I think adoption should be taken care of by the government just like foster care.

LGBT: Why are some adoption agencies saying that the movie "Orphan" will discourage people from adopting?

That’s bullshyt. Give me a break. Can’t a perfectly normal woman get impregnated by a perfectly normal man and STILL give birth to a vicious sociopath? Life is a gamble in ALL aspects. So, why should Adoption be a bigger concern?

AND REMEMBER: THESE ARE THE SAME AGENCIES THAT BAN GAYS AND LESBIANS FROM ADOPTING.

I feel bad for anyone who actually takes movies seriously

unless of course it’s a documentary or something that’s SUPPOSED to be taken seriously…

I need help on getting in contact with adoption agencies?

I have tried several times on given up my baby for adoption here in the internet, but people keep telling me to go to Adoption agencies.I do not want it to take a long process before my baby gets old with me as she is already 6months old.please help

I’m sure you’re feeling vulnerable but if you are giving your baby up, the LAST place you want to do it on is the internet, didn’t you read the last question about the group should be illegal. Well Read it.

Your baby is already 6 months old and she is YOUR baby, she would find it hard to bond with anyone else. How could you possibly give your baby up for adoption? I’m sure she’s happiest with you. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BABY UP FOR ADOPTION, you will regret for the rest of your life and your baby probably won’t thank you for leaving her.

If I haven’t convinced you and you still want to give your baby up for adoption (i.e abandon your baby) then DO NOT do it over the internet, There are plenty of couples looking to adopt in America (or pretty much any other country in the world). Do not do it on the internet if you want the best for your baby, Perverts, pedophiles and child molesters will try their easiest way to get a baby through munipilating you.

What adoption agencies work with the country of Ethiopia?

My husband and I are US citizens, but are currently living overseas. We are really wanting to adopt from Ethiopia and are wondering if anyone knows of an agency that will work with us while we are abroad. My husband is 34 and I am 25. We have been married for 2 years. We are looking for a solid agency that has all of the things that we are looking for, but would like someone to share with us the agencies that you have worked with. Please share your story with us if you would like to as well! Thank you for responding to this question.

CWA does Adoptions in Ethiopia :-) We are hoping to adopt thru them a child or sibling group from Ethiopia someday :-)

To adopt a child- What do adoption agencies ask, what do you need??

What are some good Adoption agencies?
What are the places called who take babies dropped off in a fire fighter station/ police station/ hospital by mothers who can not handle taking care of the baby??

They ask questions that would determine if you are able to take care of a child. That includes: background, interpersonal relationships, money/finances, your home, family dynamics, other children, other relatives, friends, job, hobbies, etc. They basically want to know everything about you…as you would be taking a child into your home……so you must be legit, responsible, and serious/committed.
I know of no ‘good’ Adoption Agencies.
Children who are safely dropped off at hospitals/fire departments, etc.–if no relatives are found–are taken into state custody….which is foster care.
