Adoption order and the desire to search….?

Lillie’s question on age at adoption and desire to search

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtseKfqW9nqMEIRSgd9cdetq.Bd.;_ylv=3?qid=20080305114047AABxnNr

reminded me of something I’ve been curious about – Adoption order and desire to search.

I’ve always wanted to search, while my adopted sister who came to our home four years later used to always state she never wanted to search.

My talking about searching during my teen years made my adoptive mother very uncomfortable. I wondered if perhaps my younger adoptive sister saw how uncomfortable it made her, and that shaped her opinions, as not to hurt our mother’s feelings. One of her reasons she gave me once as to why she didn’t want to search was not to hurt mom.

So any answers will have two parts:

a.) Have you searched/do you want to search?
b.) What was your place in the adoption order, i.e, only child, eldest, youngest, middle?

Thanks.

I was the youngest of 3 – and the only adopted – with a 13/14 yr age gap between them and me. (sometimes I felt like an only child – as my sibs moved out of home early-ish)
I always wanted to search – but put it off for many years because my a-mum got upset when I talked about wanting to know about my history etc.
Started the search at 26 – when pregnant with my first – and my a-mum had since passed away 8 yrs earlier. (still felt huge amounts of guilt for my a-mum’s feelings)
Seriously searched at 35 – finding bio family – complete with married parents and 3 full sibs – all younger than me!!
(yeah – that is weird to have all these younger sibs when I was always the baby!!!)

Interesting question. Thanks.

International Adoption

What are your thoughts on International adoption?

Please tell me what you think about foriegn Adoption.

I think the parents should move to the child’s country of origin, relinquish their heritage, their name and their entire family, destroy all documentation and ID and assume a new identity.

Perhaps then they might know vaguely how it feels

Step Parent Adoption

step parent adoption in va?

ok im looking for the consent to adopt form for my sons father to sign for the courts. cant find in anywhere unless i pay for it (the man isn’t paying child support as it is. going it without the lawyer) but i just cant find it. i was wondering if someone else has done a step parent Adoption in va and knows what the form looks like, where i can find it, or can possibly email me what they used. thank you so much!!!

Paying child support and relinquishing parental rights are two extreme things. He has rights still. Forget the form for now—you are trying to put the cart before the horse. This is a legal process and the court will handle it.And You think because he hasn’t pd child support you can waltz right in and the new man adopt your child.NO

Good Parenting

Could anyone please tell me some good Indian Parenting websites?

I am two months pregnant with my first baby. I am looking for some good indian Parenting website. Please tell me if you know any…..

http://www.indianmomsandbabies.com/

Personally i like this site (IndianMomsAndBabies) much more than any indian parenting website. Its very modren to the date… looks great. They got all kind of information on pregnancy, parenting, baby, toddler, preschooler, big kid, teen and many other things…

They have baby’s sleep music, growth charts and many other things that no other indian parenting website is offering.

I would really recommed this http://www.indianmomsandbabies.com/ website to you.

Gud luck with your pregnancy,
bye

Private Adoption

In a private adoption, who gets the money?

If a prospecitve adoptive couple meets a pregnant woman who agrees to adopt her baby out to them, who gets the money? The biological mom?

Just asking this out of pure curiosity.

Attorneys & agencies.

China Adoption

has any1 ever adopted from japan or china/foreign adoption?what were your experiences?

im 17 years old,and have always wanted to adopt a baby, along side having my own children as well..but i was wondering what exactly is the process of doing this?im just super curious about it…and i want to know what i may get myself into..and how to find a reputable adoption agency?<ive heard things about some "agencies" pretending to be all good and stuff, and you go through the whole process, and there either is no baby,or he or she was given to another family>..so yeah…tell me you guy’s experiences :]

Adoption agencies are usually not ‘good and stuff’, its not just about the baby not existing or being given to someone else, its about more important things, like kidnapping children and forcing women to give up their babies and then adopting them to someone to make money.

you have a lot to learn about adoption, its not as straightforward as simply raising a child, it can have long lasting and painful consequences for the child involved. have ur own children and see how you feel in a few years after you have learned a bit. also, japan dont give their babies to foreigners. and by the way there are children in foster care in your own country who need a home. consider that too.

Adoption Agencies

What adoption agencies work with the country of Ethiopia?

My husband and I are US citizens, but are currently living overseas. We are really wanting to adopt from Ethiopia and are wondering if anyone knows of an agency that will work with us while we are abroad. My husband is 34 and I am 25. We have been married for 2 years. We are looking for a solid agency that has all of the things that we are looking for, but would like someone to share with us the agencies that you have worked with. Please share your story with us if you would like to as well! Thank you for responding to this question.

CWA does Adoptions in Ethiopia :-) We are hoping to adopt thru them a child or sibling group from Ethiopia someday :-)
